Survey – Family/partner issues are leading

Family and partner issues are still the leading challenges for the success of assignments according to the new annual ‘Trends’ survey conducted by Brookfield Global Relocation Services (n=163).

Main reasons for assignment refusal

The most common reasons for assignment refusal are:

1. Family concerns (38%)
2. Partner career/income (18%)
3. Candidate uncertain reward is worth move (16%)
4. Perceived insufficient compensation (15%)
5. Other (12%)

Partner employment-related resistance

Resistance from partners to accept an assignment due to their own employment-related issues will increase in the future, according to 39% of respondents. 56% indicate they believe it will stay the same, while 5% feel it will decrease.

Main reason for assignment failure

1. Family related issues (33%)
2/3. Poor candidate selection (18%)
2/3. Cannot adapt to host location (18%)
4. Job expectations not met (14%)
5. Other (16%)
