For the technically minded

The entire MIT curriculum, ranging from introductory to the most advanced graduate courses, is available on YouTube at MIT OpenCourseWare. There’s no enrolment and no start or end dates. You can also set your own pace when following the MIT syllabus with instructional materials and assignments.

Think smarter, faster!

The Big Think YouTube channel offers access to an immense library of content with thousands of thought-provoking videos to help you get “smarter, faster”. You can jump into actionable lessons from the world’s greatest minds and freely explore the “big ideas and core skills that define knowledge in the 21st century”.

For the literature lovers

Swot up on classic novels, plays and poems with SparkNotes’ channel with plot summaries, analyses, and historical context for a host of texts that are commonly assigned books on English literature courses. It’s also a good resource for your kids should they be studying Shakespeare’s plays, for example, or books like To Kill A Mockingbird  and Lord of the Flies.

Head to Harvard or Oxford

Some of us may never get to Oxbridge or an Ivy league university in this lifetime but Harvard and Oxford both stream a huge amount of illuminating videos from faculty members. For excellent lessons on general subjects, Khan Academy is a nonprofit organisation that provides a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. Each month over 15 million people worldwide enjoy access to interactive practice problems, articles, and videos that help students succeed in maths, biology, chemistry, physics, history, economics, finance, grammar, and many other topics. Crash Course also strives to offer high-quality educational videos to “everyone for free” and has produced more than 42 courses on a wide variety of subjects, including organic chemistry, literature, world history, biology, philosophy, and many more.

An interactive e-learning platform with the mission of making learning accessible to everyone, Edureka offers high-quality videos, webinars, sample classes and lectures from industry practitioners and influencers.
