Family and partner issues are still the leading challenges for the success of assignments according to the new annual ‘Trends’ survey conducted by Brookfield Global Relocation Services (n=163).
Main reasons for assignment refusal
The most common reasons for assignment refusal are:
1. Family concerns (38%)
2. Partner career/income (18%)
3. Candidate uncertain reward is worth move (16%)
4. Perceived insufficient compensation (15%)
5. Other (12%)
Partner employment-related resistance
Resistance from partners to accept an assignment due to their own employment-related issues will increase in the future, according to 39% of respondents. 56% indicate they believe it will stay the same, while 5% feel it will decrease.
