A study on repatriation

Janet Botcherby – an erstwhile expat partner, who availed of the support package provided by Global Connection – lived through the experience of repatriation. Now she is researching the subject for her Doctoral studies at Henley Business School (University of Reading).

Seeking ‘repatriates’

As part of her research she is looking to survey ‘repatriates’ within organisations. The aim of her study is to focus on exploring the relationship between the experience of repatriate adjustment in corporate assignees, with their use of general HR or specific re-entry support practices and individual strategies to support reintegration, and organisational commitment and retention.

Voluntary and anonymous

Before starting data collection, she hopes to gain a solid understanding of the repatriation process within a variety of organisations from the perspective of HR. Is your company willing to be involved? You can contact Janet by emailing janet.botcherby@pgr.reading.ac.uk. Participation is voluntary and, rest assured, entirely anonymous; i.e. your identity and the names of any individuals or companies discussed will not be revealed. Once the survey is analysed, a complimentary report will be provided of the findings to each organisation and Janet is happy to discuss the implications for HR and repatriates.
